Numerical study of underground stations is a challenging work. In this design, the influence of the temporary phase during construction and the permanent stage on the service life must be determined. PLAXIS 2D is useful for the FEM analysis of a metro station's staged construction. PLAXIS is also very useful for analysis and stability of diaphragm wall and in determining the influence of locked-in forces during temporary stage. Both top-down and bottom-up methodologies can be thoroughly analyzed.
