Part of a cemetery in the Italian Riviera collapsed into the sea, sending 200 coffins down a cliff, Monday, February 22. Ten bodies were recovered from the water, five of whom were identified, according to local media. The cemetery was located on the edge of a cliff 70 meters above sea level. Prior to the collapse, there were concerns about the cemetery’s safety and efforts were underway to stabilize the cliff. It is believed the collapse is a result of the cliff’s erosion buffeted by severe coastal storms in the past few years. (AP)
