The disaster happened in Liangshui village in Zhaotong city’s Zhenxiong county in the early hours of the morning. More than 300 rescuers were involved in the search operation under way in freezing conditions. The area’s terrain is known for its steep slopes and high mountains and state media reported that the village saw heavy snowfall the night before.
