Construction of a 2 km-long reef began nearly three years ago. The reef will protect a luxurious, mixed-use development along the coastline between Al-Athaiba and Al-Mawelah in Oman known as “The Wave, Muscat”.
The reef is made of 20,000 carefully positioned Core-Locs (http://www.core-loc.com/). The base of the reef consists of approximately one million cubic meters of rock and is 70 meters wide at its base and 17 meters high.
